The time has come the walrus said…that I FINALLY do something with this namesake domain I bought nearly a year ago. And so ladies and gents, I welcome you to the very much in beta, nicfletch.com. For those of you non tech readers out there, all that means is that I’ll be constantly updating, tweaking and changing this here site so keep an eye out for the latest and greatest in social media gadgets and fun from yours truly.
In the spirit of SXSW, going on now in Austin, I thought I’d post a little something featuring my fav tech celeb Dennis Crowley, founder of geo-location giant foursquare (@dens). Foursquare announced a number of upcoming features including a partnership with Amex…and it sounds awesome. I could describe it to you but the videos paint a perty pic so here they are …in 2 parts for your ADD pleasure.
And Part 2.
So in a nutshell, to quote Mashable:
“In the city Austin, Texas.. 60 merchants — including Whole Foods, Starwood Hotels and Stubb’s BBQ — are offering Foursquare users “spend $5, save $5″ rewards when they load the special and swipe their AmEx cards. The pilot program started Friday and will run through Tuesday, March 15. Participating merchants have posted “Austin Unlocked” window clings to highlight their participation, and Foursquare users need only register their American Express cards to unlock this new type of special — the Loyalty Special.”
My hope at this point is that these really cool/sweet/awesome features make it back to my neck of the woods. Foursquare also launched a Venue Project to Broaden their API to unify place databases so you can read about it…or wait til I post about it.
In love, launches and location.
